Anxiety

by Isaiah Flolo

A trickle down my neck, my eyes fixed to the beat of my heart.

The rush of doubt shades over like sun over the clouds.

I miss the presence of your arms wrapped around my chest.

The wave of the cold, the wave of the heat, anxiety

The anxiety is killing me, all I want is to be free.

My veins pop out and I’m afraid to feel peace.

But I’ll be alright next to your side for life.

My heart aches of the pain when you don’t fall through.

But that’s ok.

All I want is your permission to fall back in line, like the rest of the world.

All I see on an everyday life with no pian only gain.

All I want is to be free from the anxiety.

The waves are rising to the peak of the mountains.

When I look up, doubt overcomes, and peace is a climb.

Hold me, until I fall asleep in your arms under the stars.

My anxiety is like a demon who follows to haunt me for the rest of time.

I run through my mind until it catches me out of spite.

My soul is the light in the dark as my anxiety consumes me.

I call to you, a friend in need, my anxiety has overwhelmed me.

Blue Star

by Isaiah Flolo

A bright star, the color of the ocean sky.

Of dreamy waves splashing warmth against his cheek

The blue star of the night sky, shone across the land.

A curious child trying to catch the light.

So close but yet so far, nearly in the clutches of his arms

In his dreams the brightest star, a beaming ball of light

Shined over his bed, making wishes all night.

Burning bright, burning whole, the burning star sizzled and winked at the child

The star glistened each day from the morning blues to his dreams coming true

The boy went outside to chase the star once more.

The wind howled past his hair, running into the distance.

Finally touching the star

It was so hot that it burned his hand, and he wept all the way home.

Making his way back home the blue star gave him one small wish

The young boy looked down to see a tiny star floating next to his window

When midnight came, he tucked into his bed looking out the window at the bright blue star.

His tiny friend slept in each other’s warmth.
