Listen, Gale
Listen, Gale
When I am done writing this novel
Although he may never read it
Tell him I am sorry
For finishing our story too late
Tell him I waited for all the pieces to fit together
Just like how I waited for him to hold me never
Tell him I am sorry
It took so long for me to write our song
Then go
To where he first loved me (Because I know he once loved me)
Pour kisses onto the Earth for me
Tell me I made it into his heart
Tell me he’ll meet me when he leaves (You won’t know where this’ll be,
But trust that we are finally meant to be)
Then go and break
The news to my bedroom door
Who witnessed the aching of my heart
And believed that one day I’d be great
And free and smart
Listen, Gale
When I die
That’s when you go telling
But know that I am not alone (I could never be alone)
