Sunrise

I still remember that October night
When you invited me over at three
Of the array of men to bring you delight
You decided to choose me

Night of sleepless conversation
When dreams are best told
Exceeding all expectation
Until the sun turns the sky gold

I depart the moment of morning
During dawn’s persimmon sky
Those moments shared, I was mourning
You asked next time I’d come by

You walked me to my car
Through the cold autumn dew
The prettiest colors by far
Every sunrise is now you
