Isaiah Selected Poems

Crimson Dawn

Forged: From blood and tears                    with the intent of marriage.

A crimson red ruby mounted upon the bezel where it will lay.

Engraved inside the inner circle, saying…

“Need not forget me, for I am your memory.”

Seduction: The design constructed to the desire of love.

When I put my hand against your cheek.

Lust overcomes where I cannot hold back.

Aftermath: as we lay in bed

I stare at the ceiling, thinking of what I’ve done.

As I got up from the bed with red silk sheets

Blood dripping from your fingertips.

My passion was too strong to bare.

Final Act: I grab my robe, fix my hair, and place your ring upon the nightstand

your body cold.

I take my leave. Slamming the door behind, with no remorse.

Already forgetting, your memory.

Rebirth – Lost One

day was young as he once was.

skies canvas scattered with gusts of clouds

ground moist from the morning mist

birds catching their breath from the noisy wind

sitting outside smelling the fresh cleansed grass

thinking of the past as if it were yesterday

her baby boy, gone to another life of peace

the sound of silence, so painful to bare

though from the ashes a small creature came to greet

a young vibrant cardinal flew down like an angel

watching in disbelief as if she saw him one last time

the adolescent perched beside, tilting its head from recognition

bursting into tears gasping to say, “I miss you…”

my son.
